House history

Some background on our new house, as I'm sure you can see it is an old Victorian single fronted Cottage. It dates back to the 1890's and there are actually some original features that we will be preserving such as locks and doors. There is also ALOT that goes! The house has been tenanted for quite a number of years with people coming and going in between. Needless to say it was certainly in a 'state'. There was a particular odour.... an inside dog... all day every day.... smokers who let the ashtray stack up by the bed... yep, you get the picture. Anyway, the first thing we did was rip up all the carpet & underlay. I've rather live on unpolished floorboards than that! Photos of that to come shortly.

Forgot to mention....

So I realised, I forgot to mention WHY I decided to have a blog about our House. Well, two reasons, firstly so that you can all see what we're up to and how we spend our weekends now and secondly, to pass on any tips of things we learn along the way or suppliers/tradies that are good/bad or ugly!

The Start...

So here are some pics of what we started with. We have some grand ideas that will probably take a while but think I'm going to love the process... think of all the plans we'll need :)
I've given you a few photos from different angles so you can see the place. There is a lane at the back so will allow a car space in the backyard. All the weatherboards on the side need replacing but that will be done as part of the big renovation.
